Evans Plunge Mineral Springs Faces Closure Due to Staffing Shortage; Urges Community Support to Fill Critical Lifeguard and Front Desk Positions
11/13/24 – The City of Hot Springs is experiencing a critical staffing shortage at the Evans Plunge Mineral Springs, which forces us to consider closing the facility for an additional day each week. Despite ongoing efforts to recruit qualified lifeguards and front desk staff, the city is unable to fill these essential positions, putting the safety and enjoyment of residents at risk.
Starting 11/21/2024, Evans Plunge will be closed on Tuesdays and Thursdays until further notice. This difficult decision comes after a series of challenges in recruiting and retaining staff for the high-responsibility roles required to operate the pool safely. The ongoing shortage of lifeguards and front desk personnel has already led to limited hours in recent weeks, and without immediate action, the situation will only worsen. We understand how important this facility is to our community, this is not a decision we take lightly, and we deeply regret the inconvenience it causes our residents and guests.
Lifeguards are a critical part of ensuring the safety of all patrons, while front desk staff handle admission, provide customer service, and maintain a smooth flow of operations. Without sufficient personnel in both areas, the pool cannot safely or efficiently operate.
The city is actively recruiting for both lifeguard and front desk positions and encourages anyone interested in applying to reach out immediately. Full training and certification will be provided for qualified candidates. We offer competitive wages, annual raises, and an included membership. The city also hopes to engage the community in spreading the word, as more staffing means a quicker return to normal pool hours.

Evans Plunge has long been a place of joy, relaxation, and fitness for residents of all ages. The city is committed to re-establishing full service as soon as possible and appreciates the community’s understanding and patience during this challenging time.
